This book takes a few chapters but once you get into it, you're hooked. At first I disliked every character in the novel except for Joe. He's an honest, hard-working, trustworthy person that you can't help but admire and enjoy. But everybody that he surrounds himself with are absolute scum bags. So it's hard to enjoy Joe's honesty when you're struggling with all the other characters in the novel and the plots sluggish ability to get off the ground.
