This is an interesting book with an interesting world. I kinda wish there was more explanation, but I was able to understand everything for the most part.
There is a slight love triangle going on, but I'm not sure if I'm a fan of the romance bit since it seems way way too quick. I get that magic is taking place here and things, but ehhhh idk.

solid 3-3.5 stars
I enjoyed listening to this. The world is neat, although a bit more explanation would be nice. I appreciated how the author portrayed poverty and living paycheck to paycheck as that is relatable for a lot of people and it was done in a tasteful way. So were Adam's difficulties with being gay in a small community and the struggles he still has because of that upbringing.
I know some people dislike the occasional pov from Robert but I think that gave another perspective into who A ...more

I liked this book. I wondered about the title, b/c our hero didn't seem to be all that, so I was glad that was addressed by another character. I liked that part of the story was some characters facing their awful past and I am hopeful for their relationships in the next book. I liked how the magic worked, and how our MC grew into who he is, just a little. ...more
