Newland Archer is engaged but is attracted to the married cousing of his fiancee. An interesting look into upperclass New York life at the end of the 1800's. I found Newland to be rather annoying and like both women far more than I liked him.

I liked this one. Wharton doesn't write happily-ever-after, she writes realistically. We can't predict how life will happen and we can't always know how our choices will affect us long term. One thing is for sure: We get older, we romanticize, we adapt. Time marches on. 61/1,001
