What Members Thought

This is a classic science fiction novel about plants that are taking command of the world and comets or satellites that are causing people to go blind. It was innovative and exciting, and I think that any fan of either horror or science fiction would love it. I am a fan of neither genre but certainly found this one unique and more enjoyable than expected.

Excellent dystopia, and I read it soon after my first visit to London and the English countryside. After trudging down Whitehall one day (and getting trapped on the wrong side of a parade), I could actually relate to his description of Whitehall in the book, the normal crowds, and so forth.

The tiffids weren't really as prominent as I thought they would be. The sexism is about what you'd expects from a 1950s sci-fi novel written by a man.
