Oh, man. This book kick ass. Definitely not your run-of-the-mill dystopian.
ETA:
There's so much violence in the world it began to spawn monsters. The Corsai, that kill with teeth and claws and the Malchai, that kill by draining blood. But the deadliest of all are the Sunai, of which there are only three. They're born from the most violent crimes and can steal a soul with music.

I absolutely loved this book! Victoria Is just so good and creating this worlds were magic and monsters coexist and yes the chaos of those mundane and magical things living together explode off the pages. I love monsters and with this book it's hard to tell whose the worst, humanity or the actual monsters? I can't wait to read the 2nd book and find out what happens.

This was my first Victoria Schwab book, and I think I'm obsessed with her now. I loved August and Kate, I loved the world building. I loved how nobody is "good" or "bad" but gray areas. I loved the writing, how stream-of-consciousness it was in tense moments; it really felt like I was there with Kate feeling her fear, or with August feeling his struggle to not go dark.
