Definitely one of the best executions of the known-since-childhood-and-then-one-day! trope I've ever read. I think the one day! part could have been more drawn out and better built, but it really worked for me overall. Julia Quinn is really good at writing lovely men, something that I actually better understand now after hearing her talk about this. She is also great at building up interesting heroines--here, a loyal, family-driven Honoria.

My first Kindle book! Quite delightful, exactly what you expect from Ms Quinn. The perfect airplane read :-)
In this one, we have Miss Honoria Smythe-Smith, who has known Earl somethingorother Marcus for most of her life, since he's been best friends with her brother from school days. They realize they are attracted to each other, he injures himself (involving a fake mole hole Honoria dug, and a sloppy valet) and requires round-the-clock care from her, they fall in love, they don't admit it to ea ...more

This book was really cute, but there just wasn't enough action for me, you know? Like a LOT of their love story is internal... and I guess I wanted to see them interact more... in different circumstances.
Okay, so Honoria Smythe-Smith is a Smythe-Smith. She plays violin... badly, and she knows it. But it's a family tradition that she's proud to be a part of, so she smiles through, despite causing Mozart to roll over in his grave. But that doesn't matter so much yet.
