Rather dark (is that becoming synonymous with YA?) but interesting, until you get to the explanations, whereupon it's dark and baffling, with increasing amounts of bafflement. Then I got to the end: wha? Not quite riveting enough to make me want to read a sequel, but... interesting read, nonetheless.

Betwixt? More like bewildered. I found this book a compelling and hard to put down read, but upon reaching the end realized I will have to wait for one or more books in the story before I truly understand what the heck is going on. *sigh*
