I wondered if Cooney was still publishing new things....and I still don't know, this was originally published in 1997, and is being re-issued for e-book. It's new to me, though.
The writing was fine, but the plotting, sheesh! It was all build-up - the "solution" is thrown into just a few paragraphs, and is so anti-climactic that I wanted to re-read the paragraphs, just to make sure I got it right. Then I realized that it also made no sense: (view spoiler) ...more

This is a Cooney suspense I enjoyed but I will have to ponder which is her best horror. When I moved to Boston, I reluctantly gave away her weaker books (although I am a big fan, she is sufficiently prolific that I still own quite a few).
