Okay, so there are these two awful selfish, unstable, irrational people. And they have some horrible friends.

That's pretty much it. I guess they are supposed to be good looking and that's where the "beautiful" part of the title comes in. Otherwise it's pretty much all Disaster.

It distresses me that the author appears to be around my age, because the attitudes reflected in this book are so old-fashioned. Girls who have promiscuous sex, or even overtly display sexual desire, are sluts and may be ...more

I'm torn on this one, part of me wants to give it 4 stars b/c I loved the intense love story but then the violence and fighting makes me want to give it only 2 stars. So settling on 3. This was just alright for me. There were parts of the story that I really enjoyed, the push-pull of the two characters in the beginning, and the poker games and such. However, towards the middle it got very monotonous (for me, at least) and it felt a whole lot less than realistic. I was also unamused by how much of a pushover Abby turns into (she seems like she should be so much stronger). I also felt like the characters were really too different to end up together in the end. Oh...sweet, sweet baby Jesus. This has it all...horrendous cliches (raking fingers through hair, single tears that run down temples...you get the idea), teenage smoking, unprotected sex, violent relationships, boys and girls who can't function without each other, slut puppies and unstable boys. Great stuff. All it's missing is a suicide pact (book 2, maybe) and some bullying. And I had to finish it. Seriously couldn't stop reading it. What is this world coming to? ...more
