This book is a slow start, the snowball tipping off the side of a slope, picking up velocity so gradually you almost don't notice it, until it's the middle of the book and the snowball is now an avalanche racing toward the bottom of a mountain. At least, that's what reading it felt like to me. At the 48% mark, I was still going, yeah, it's readable, but it isn't *compelling*. But that's the last time I checked my progress in the book.

3.5, rounded down because at times I felt like this was a chore to read.
I never quite got fully into this book. I’m not sure why, because the concept is an interesting one and I think the author did some great stuff with it. The crusade against Vincent should have been more interesting to me, I guess, but I think the fact that I never *quite* knew what Vincent was talking about dulled the urgency of their interactions for me, and since this pursuit was the raison d’être of the book, in the end ...more

Killer concept. A little dry or drawn out in the execution. With some tightening, this could've been amazing. As is, it was still enjoyably original and made my head hurt in a good way. Yay time travel… or whatever this is.
