Historical fiction set in an alternate Japan. Basically: one where there are ninjas. For reals, yo! Magical ninjas! Watch out; they will kill you in your sleep.

Set in a fantasy world based loosely on feudal Japan, this is the coming of age story of a young man who finds that he is heir to the ninja-magic of the assassin tribes. As he is trained to use his talents in anticipation of avenging the death of his family, he is caught up in the intricate politics of The Three Countries.

Japanese historical drama, with fantasy ninja-type gypsies. Alternates between 1st person boy and 3rd person girl, who of course fall in love once their eyes meet. Different clans and religious groups at conflict. Tekuo needs to find his way between conflicting obligations--to family, adopted family, and extended family. Hooray, (view spoiler).
