I listened to this book on CD during my drives to and from work - So my review comes from the fact that it's better to listen to this story than to hear "Poker Face" on the radio for the millionth time! But if I had made time to read this book, I don't think I would've finished it. It's too similar to Harry Potter. For that reason, it's hard not to compare the two--and at the end of the day the whole thing just feels like a generic version of Harry Potter with less-than-compelling characters.

This book is similar to Harry Potter. I like this series but I don't think it is as well written as the Harry Potter books. Charlie Bone is 11 when he discovers that he can hear people in photographs talking. Because he is "endowed" he is sent to Bloor's Academy, a school that specialize in teaching childer who excel in Art, Drama, and Music as well as those that are "endowed". Charlie soon discovers that there is a balance between good and evil that he is critical to but doesn't yet know why. S
