Decent YA dystopia that I think I may have read a little close to Under My Skin which has similar themes. I liked Callie, even when I questioned her choices and I was glad to see that some right-thinking adults were part of the solution. I will read the second in the series when/if I come across it.

The writing is really weak and I just don't much care about Callie. The world building makes no sense to me. Why are some people so old? If there are 110 year olds how frail can a 70 year old really be? Why didn't anyone in between 20 and 60 live? Are here no Enders anywhere who are grandparents and would want to look out for these kids? More like an underdeveloped thought experiment than anything and more dystopian than post-apocalyptic I think.

Yet another dystopian series (at least there's definitely a sequel in the works, if not more books). The twist here is that the Spore Wars (enemy unknown) have led to a situation where adults between 20 and 60 have essentially died off, and those minors without grandparents (or great-grandparents, or great-aunts/uncles) are either institutionalized or living as squatters. Because this is set in Los Angeles, there's an even greater disparity between the really rich of Beverley Hills and everyone
