Wow what an emotional book, I adored the room where there were letters written to others inside the books.
This is a love story.
It's the story of Howling Books, where readers write letters to strangers, to lovers, to poets.
It's the story of Henry Jones and Rachel Sweetie. They were best friends once, before Rachel moved to the sea.
Now, she's back, working at the bookstore, grieving for her brother Cal and looking for the future in the books people love, and the words they leave behind. ...more

Thank you. You tipped this from a 3-star, albeit very well-written, book into something sublime. I would've walked away from this feeling something missing if it hadn't been for you, and when you're dealing with grief and loss and the afterwards of it all, even just in fiction, something missing is the last thing you need.

I think this is more of a YA than adult novel but it didn't matter, I thought it was quite good.
The main characters are a teenage girl, Rachel, whose younger brother has recently drowned and her male (ex) best friend, Henry, whose parents run a second hand book shop. The book shop has a unique feature; a "letter library" where people can write letters to anyone they want and leave them in between the pages of the books for someone to find, or not. There are years of correspondence in the letter ...more
