+++++From the moment I read the first part of the description I knew I HAD to read this book . "WHAT IF YOU REALIZED THE TERRIFYING BOOK YOU WERE READING WAS ALL ABOUT YOU?"
Who could resist a book with that intro?

There are secrets and lies which may or may not come to light in this book.

While there are some clear comparisons to be made to Gone Girl (two voices, two unlikeable characters) publishers just need to stop making that claim. What happened twenty years ago in Spain, how that affected Catherine and Nancy (and Stephen) and what made Nancy write a book about it, one that is so clearly based on one person's account of what happened then/there are interesting questions. I got impatient with it about halfway through, but then there was a twist I didn't see coming. I wanted to find out what would happen, and I ended up liking it.

This book showcased the ugliest side of all the people featured in it. The whole thing, what happened, was badly handled by everybody. But I did like that both the main protagonists were very honest with themselves in the end.
