The only really interesting, different thing about this particular series was the fact that it took place in New England, somewhere near Boston. It was interesting to read about the area where I grew up through the eyes of V.C. Andrews. I also recall a part where Melody visits a 16-sided house and there are some interesting facts about 16-sided houses (something like there are only 16 in the country?) - which is funny because there is a 16-sided house in my hometown of Townsend, MA.
