I noticed that many people who have read all or nearly all of Kate Morton's books gave this one less than 5 stars. This is only the second one of her books that I've read and I loved it! There's a lot to keep track of with multiple time frames and multiple story lines, but I enjoyed going back and forth in time reading about the people who were all connected in some way to the lovely Birchwood Manor. I know this isn't everyone's favorite Kate Morton novel, but I really enjoyed it and would even consider going up to 5 stars on this. (I'm a hard grader.)
It does get off to a slow start, and it does require some attentive reading and or note-taking to keep all the characters in mind and understand their relationships to one another. It's not difficult reading, you just have to pay attention and remember who's who and who's when!
