This came in the mail yesterday, and though I was technically in the middle of another book at the time, Tamora Pierce is one of my favourite authors, so I couldn't resist the temptation to pick it up instead.

I don't "read" audiobooks, so I have no idea how successful this was (the book grew out of the audiobook) but... this will make the Pierce lovers happy. The interplay between Luvo and Evvy are what made the book for me, and the creation of Flare and Carnelion felt "real" somehow. Evvy's journeys below more than made up for the mediocre stuff above.

A fairly forgettable young adult fantasy, this didn't hold my interest. I guess I'm like one of the characters - rocks just don't do much for me, and there's a lot about rocks. I got the feeling Pierce isn't all that interested in rocks either, which didn't help much. I did like the parts set inside a volcano.
