What Members Thought

I reread this since my kids' book group picked it for our August read. Here's what I had to say about the audio version:
I thought I would give this series a try after a young fan came in and requested the audio version of one of the later books - so I grabbed the audio of the first one. The reading is solid, conveying the thrills and bumps of the chase without feeling either rushed or too drawn out. It's the kind of audio that would make a good listen for a family car trip. Predictable. As soon as the main characters stumble upon the clue and explain it out loud, one of the others comes out of the hiding ("Bravo! Now give me everything or die"). Quick read, but I want to know the ending... Wonder how many books are there in the series? 39 clues, and only two have been uncovered in this one. At this rate it's going to take 20 books.

I only gave this 2 stars because my son seemed to like it so much. I was really disappointed, as this series is being touted as the "Big Thing" in kiddie lit. I was bored stiff, and groaned each time he wanted to read together!
