Action/Romance. Agnes is very busy trying to plan her god-daughter's wedding, make cupcakes, and meet her article deadline when some pipsqueak with a gun busts into her house and demands her dog. Agnes doesn't take well to this and cracks him on the head with a frying pan. Suddenly she's got a hot new bodyguard and each day brings at least two attempts on her life. Agnes is tough, but it doesn't hurt that Shane is really good at his job.

The hitman is Shane, who shows up to protect Agnes at the request of his uncle Joey, after Agnes is attacked in her kitchen by a bumbling dude who seems to be after Agnes's dog m ...more

A fun, fast read. A teensy bit frenetic, even compared to Crusie's normal, rapid-fire style. Glad I bought it, as I have most of her books, because like the others, I'm sure I'll reach for it again.

Jennifer Cruise is always a safe bet for a fun, breezy, and occasionally steamy read, and she does not disappoint with this one. Wacky neighbors, obnoxious family, unfairly good descriptions of delicious sounding food, and some serious chemistry between our leads.
