The story of mothers and daughters, their differences and their likeness... a story of family.
I was hesitant to read it, as the mother/daughter relationship, and all the cliche's that go with it, is a relationship I'm hesitant to explore too much. Am not usually a fan.
But I liked this one a lot. I liked the characters, I liked the lyrical writing style. And contrary to some of the other reviews, I didn't think that the sex was unnecessary... I think novels that truly expand on the sexuality of ...more

I don't remember tons about this book-maybe it's all the flashbacks in the story. It's a multigenerational story about a girl who goes to live with her grandmother (I can't remember if something happened to the mom or not.) The Irish myths about Grannule (I think I butchered that) were interesting though and the way it's woven throughout the book was good.

No matter what I did I just couldn't like this book. To me it was like each daughter couldn't stand being round her mother/grandmotehr so no one was getting along and no one was talking to each other. It did have a few nice moments that I enjoyed.
