Read this while on holidays and found it to be an entertaining choice. I quite liked the absurdist nature of the plot. To be honest, the Forrest Gump comparisons on the cover made me slightly apprehensive, but fortunately, it turned out to be far from the treacly-sweet book I'd feared.

I've had Jonas Jonasson on my TBR list for ages but this is the first I've actually picked up by him. It was super fun, funny, and charming. On his 100th birthday, Allan Karlsson escapes from his nursing home, steals a suitcase, and runs away. Thus begins an utterly delightful adventure where Allan picks up a motley assortment of traveling companions and leaves behind a trail of bodies.

I don't understand all the hype for this book. Yes, it's kind of like Forrest Gump on a road trip (which sounded promising) but it is really badly written and tediously tenuous the further you read through it. I finished it purely because i'm bloody-minded and was hoping that after 396 pages there would be some heart-warming, earth-shattering, mind-altering point to the whole shitcart. Not so.
