I read this to my kids, one chapter a night. I chose it because we really enjoyed Funke's picture books for younger kids, and my oldest daughter was ready for something longer. I LOVED this book! It hit just the perfect tone of exciting-but-not-too-scary for a five year old. When we were done, my daughter asked me to start over.

Funny book, definitely geared toward younger readers.
A sweet, fun adventure that was perfect for reading to my seven year old. Nothing thrilling or game changing, but charming and very enjoyable.
