fulfilling my 2019 goal to read (at least) one book each month that has been digitally moldering, unread, on my NOOK for years and years and years.

not at all bad for a sickbed one-day read!

i am very glad i decided that one of my 2019 reading goals should be to start reading through the backlog of nookbooks i've been accumulating over the years. i'm even a little glad i got sick enough to feel zero regrets or guilt in giving myself a free pass to spend the whole day in bed, reading, which is not

Everyone has a full life, even if it ends soon. All lives are complete experiences.

Go ahead and call me an idiot, but I was surprised to find this set-up is a re-do of Strangers on a Train, (well, Strangers on a Plane this time) even though the blurb clearly says "modern reimagining of Highsmith's classic Strangers on a Train." The Kind Worth Killing by Peter Swanson, is written Patricia Highsmith style. In fact, he name drops Highsmith in the opening pages, no doubt to suggest to long-time mystery readers that this will be Strangers on a Airplane, which is pretty much how it starts off, but then takes a lot twists and turns.

Curiously though, Swanson doesn't reference Highsmith's Strangers on a Train, but Two Faces of January. Too obvious?

I haven’t read anything else by Swanson, but this is one contemporary mystery I

Surprisingly good! Kind of a Dexter-ish angle that has you rooting for a killer.
