I had to put this on a shelf so I could add a review, but I haven't actually read it. Because perpetuating the "queers are evil" trope in 2015 is inexcusable. Because erasing an important queer historical figure, and an important queer historical romance, is inexcusable. Herman didn't try to create "an accurate historical picture", as she claims, by creating an original female character to shoehorn into a factual historical gay relationship.
