Dan and his mom have to move into a house they have kind of inherited from a great aunt after his dad comes out as gay.
The new/old house smells like cats, Dan's mom is trying to start a wedding cake business but keeps driving away customers with downer relationship advice, and Dan has to start at a new school, find a job to help out, and figure out how not to be a nerd.
And, he gets a crush on Estelle, the girl next door.

it was a bit cute and fluffy, but lovely writing and likeable characters and howard forced me to give it 4. and would definitely be reading the next one.
