Oh how I wish there were "half stars"! This gets a three AND A HALF - I liked it more than average - but I can't quite go up to four stars. It seems like everyone nowadays who writes a less-than-serious novel about 19th century England finds their book characterized as a "Dickensian romp," but this really is!
