2019 re-read: to remind myself of who exists in this world before I start with the next book, I started this one again because I remember it very fondly. And it holds up—George’s slow realization of his fondness for Billie is so well-written in the midst of him coming to terms with how he envies his brothers and how Billie, the ever-confident, whirlwind, brave, competent Billie, feels nervous and discomfited in her expected role in life. I have the worst memory. I remembered the opening scene and kinda the second half of the book... but the first half was a total blur. But I guess it's been almost 2 years. People don't understand rereading books, but when you can't remember anything after 6 months.... it's like an almost new experience again! So... yay?

Anyway, it's really cute. I remember the second book WAY BETTER, maybe because the premise is more... unique....

I looooooved the premise of this book, and I *really* loved how it came together. Julia Quinn did a fantastic job setting up the back story between the characters. The characters were developed and interesting... By the end, I felt like I'd been on a whirlwind journey (that somehow still felt quite gradual) with two people who were so sure they didn't like each other, but who are surprised to find the do.
