Like a lot of futuristic dystopias, this is one of those stories that sucks you in as you try to unravel exactly what is going on. Ten-year-old Honor and her family have just moved to an island, where she must learn to live under the rules of the Corporation and fit into school and society. As she grows up, Honor realizes that her parents don't want to conform - but she keeps trying. The premise is compelling, and the reader gets information as Honor gets it, which kept me reading. YA apocalypse!

Finally a dystopia that's a bit different, with a protagonist who's not a natural rebel and who doesn't go right for challenging the status quo. Honor is a far more unlikely heroine, and this book was a little more interesting than other, popular dystopias like Matched. While I liked that it wasn't a book with a marketing ploy, since it doesn't lead to a sequel, it did feel like the ending was quite rushed.
