The writing is itself pretty decent but the main character "Egg" is so completely unpleasant that it was painful to read about her. The majority of the book is about Egg in her mean phase, and then she spontaneously (or so it seems since I didn't really feel that she took the consequences of her actions to heart) turns into a averagely unpleasant teenager. Really just a not great book. If Castelluci had spent more time developing the second half of the book it could have been something worth rea

I am so not the target audience for this book, but I gave it a shot after meeting Cecil at the NY Comic Con (and damn, was she ever cool) and loving her graphic novel with Jim Rugg, The PLAIN Janes. And it was a decent, quick read... it didn't change my life or anything, but it was enjoyable.
