I read this a million years ago. It was written back in the days of Ryan White when people were still so uninformed about HIV and AIDS. The book (as best I remember) is about a young girl who has HIV (possibly contracted due to hemophilia but I could be confusing this with that made for tv movie with John Boy Walton.) Anyway-the girl is diagnosed and her mother fights for her right to go to school and be part of the community. From what I remember, Hoffman's writing style has changed quite a bit

When I read this shortly after it came out, I thought this was good, if sombre. It would most likely read as fairly dated now.
