Tick is exceptional only for his braininess. Otherwise, he leads an average life with nice parents, a standard unpleasant middle school, the usual geeky hobbies. One day he receives a mysterious letter asking for help and warning him that agreeing to help will put him in danger. Instead of saying what help is needed, the letter begins a series of odd clues and puzzles that Tick must solve in time.
