Sequel to Airborn.
I finished this audiobook at like 2 am. I couldn't fall asleep! The story was SOOOOO EXCITING!!! I kept squealing aloud, and then going, "Oh crap! I hope my husband doesn't wake up!" Anyway...
OMG! Can I marry Matt Cruse???? (Sorry, that was my 14-year-old self speaking...) He was SOOOOOOO CUTE in this book!!!! I mean, he's 16, so meh, but still! I was like, "Can I be Kate please?? PRETTY PLEASE???" They are ADORABLE to the Nth power!

Not a bad followup to Airborn. Not as interesting as the first, but it still had a lot of interesting authentic pseudo-temporally-appropriate touches.

One of the real nice things about these books is that the science is consistent and logical. You always know the result of some physical action because it strays so slightly from our physics, yet it manages to well justify airships. It's good work, and leaves much scope for the imagination.
Furthermore, the characters are similarly enamored with their environment--both the fantastical elements of strange new creatures in their world and with the [relatively more] simple joys of flight. ...more

Very good follow-up to Airborn, with Matt Cruse and Kate DeVries teaming up again to explore a kind of Flying Dutchman of the sky. Once again, there are exotic flying animals, ruthless pirates, and a hint of romance. I think I liked this book so much because I adore Matt Cruse. He's just so polite! Highly recommended.

This wasn't *quite* as good as the first book, but it sure was close. More fantastic worldbuilding by Oppel.
