Excellently moves the plot toward book three, and what is sure to be a big finale. Oliver's writing is impeccable as always.

It was a slow start for me and Pandemonium. I was so excited to have it in my hands that I think the anticipation ruined my enjoyment of finally reading it.
Lena's story is told in a non-linear fashion...we get the now & the then. That was wonderful. But if I'm being honest, I wanted to know what the heck happened to Alex. Sure...Lena's the main character, but I like Alex.

It's funny in a way, because my biggest complaint about this book has little to do with the plot, but more to do with the fact it's a YA book. It just felt so short to me! I felt like as soon as I started reading it I was finished. Granted I haven't read a YA book in a while, but it's a little disappointing that a book I was enjoying was over so quickly.
There is a big cliffhanger at the end, which isn't that surprising considering the way the first, Delirium, ended. In fact, I read review after ...more

May contain spoilers for Delirium, but not for Pandemonium.
I liked this sequel much better than Delirium. For one thing, I felt like Lena was coming into her own as a person. She learned to question her society in the first book, and here we see her dealing with the aftermath of that, and of her decision to leave for the Wilds. The changes in setting allow Oliver to flesh out her dystopian world - we see a greater variety of characters and opinions and ways of dealing with the dominant society. ...more

More like 3.5- the plot got better, the pacing was exciting - I think Oliver did a great job flashing between past and present ( though it didn't really "get" anywhere, if you know what I mean). The book had an overall despairing kind of tone so I can't really say I *enjoyed* reading it, so I feel I can't give this a full 4 stars, but overall, I think it was well done and I'm looking forward to the third installment.

PANDEMONIUM might just be one of those rare second books that I find better than the first one. Like DELIRIUM it's a fast read, but thoughtful as well. Lauren Oliver did a great job expanding the world, and I loved that we got to see more sides of it than we did in the first book. It's also has more action (which I like), and it was a very fast-paced read. Even if it ended on a TOTAL CLIFFHANGER (again!) I'm willing to look past that as long as the last book in the trilogy is as beautiful and ex

Maybe more like 3.5 stars really but it was entertaining. I'm interested to see how things wrap up from here.
