There were burrows built for burrowing owls near my house a few years ago. I've never seen one, either because our walks are not at the right time or because the owls left.
It seems more likely that the owls left, I doubt people or coyotes left them alone.

I really enjoyed this book. It reminded me of the writing style of Holes (by Louis Sacchar), where you start out with what seem like several different story lines that meet and intertwine as the book goes on.
It is also a kid power book, where kids can change their worlds for the better. It's main character is a middle school boy who just moved again to a new town. He is dealing with being the new kid again and missing his old town. It also has an environmental theme, to protect some tiny burrow ...more
