Our hero, Tim, interferes in an assassination, and ends up protecting the intended victim.
This book has some of the best fugitives escaping from killer scenes I have seen. It has a very evil neurotic bad guy. However, Tim's backstory showing how he is able to do the things he does is too short and underdeveloped to be fully believable. also at the end it is very hard to believe that the shadow organization would just open up and tell Tim everything just because they respect him. ...more

Ok, I know I've been reading some trashy-ish books lately. This one was just out of curiousity for what makes the best seller list. It read like a movie. It was exciting, and interesting. But...
It was an R rated kind of movie. Describing murders and horrible stuff from the perspective of the killer just turned me off.
I did appreciate that there was good vs. evil and the good guy was just as good as the bad guy was bad.

I haven't read a lot of Koontz, but I think I like him. He tells a quick story, without making me feel stupider for having read it. I really appreciate that.
