Silla and her little sister Nori don't have much choice when they arrive on Aunt Cath's doorstep. They can't go back home, and they've always heard stories about how perfect La Baume manor is - even though their mother warned them that Aunt Cath was crazy. For a little while, everything is fine. This book is like what would happen if you crossed "The Babadook" with Meg Rosoff's "How I Live Now" and added a dash of "The Others". It was creepy as hell and I actually liked the end. Definitely a book you have to get to the end to understand all of it, but worth it. I actually would recommend reading it rather than listening, the production is good but I think it distracted from the impact of the writing. ...more
