I fell in love with Ella Tournier. There was something about her experience that clicked with me right away. Moving to a place that is unlike what you know is never easy, no matter how easy. For Ella, this place was France. I admired her strength of character, she always remained true to herself.

I loved Chevalier's Falling Angels and Girl With A Pearl Earring. So I had high expectations for this one.
The two stories in the book don't mesh very well with each other, although each is compelling in its own right. The characters are well developed. However, there is a sense of mystery in the book that is never fully explained and the ending is muddled.
