It's like it's caught one bright moment in the main character's life. Beverley, right there and then. The light is a bit harsh sometimes, like a flash off the sea that blinds you, but it's always beautiful.

I know I’m a huge fan of KDC and this friend group but this book didn’t do it for me in particular. It felt pretty formulaic. Heartwarming cast of characters, no one is a particular enemy, internal realizations of value, vulnerability, children who speak like old men, honest little children, a few quirky small-town events, and a final understanding of belonging.
