When I first heard Brandon Sanderson wrote a superhero book, I immediately went for my credit card and then had this reaction: What do you mean it's not out yet? I have to wait for Sanderson's superhero book? *pouts*
But it was totally, completely, utterly, 100% worth the wait.
Despite me having shelved it on my "superheroes" shelf, there are no superheroes. Because that implies the super-powered are heroic. In the Steelheart world, power corrupts, and super power corrupts absolutely.

Imagine if people actually had superpowers... do you really think they would go around helping people? This is a superhero dystopia kind of novel, which makes all kinds of sense from a marketing perspective (they're both popular genres!). I absolutely love this whole series. It's silly but the stakes are high, it's a great reversal of many superhero tropes. The fight scenes are so creative and exciting. I especially enjoy the different cities, they are all so unique and described in a way I can clearly picture even though I haven't read the books in a couple years

This is science fiction at its best! A dystopia that is on par with the Divergent or the Hunger Games and has a hero worth cheering for. Pick it up and get reading!
