This was the first romance book I ever read, I normally don’t read romance but this one hooked me. My Mom had a copy that I first read my junior year of high school. I’ve read it a few times since then, and like it just as much each time. The hero Ruark is definitely a dream guy and there are so many times when you just want to reach in the pages and slap Shanna. Definitely one that I like to reread from time to time, I might just need to pick it up again.

Abandoned. Got 150 pages in and did not care about the characters.
I needed something a little lighter after spending a month with Tolstoy...so historical romance it was....it ended up taking me much much longer than I had hoped. Honestly if you need a tale of pirates and bondsmen and a squire's daughter's secret marriage to a slave, read this, but otherwise don't bother.
