I just finished Love, Stargirl by Jerry Spinelli. And I have not been able to pick up another book because I don't want to lose the feeling of satisfaction that came from finishing it. At first, I didn't think that this book could be as good as it's "prequel" Stargirl, but not I'm hard-pressed to say which was better.
Love, Stargirl picks up where Stargirl left off. She has left Mica High in Arizona and, more importantly, her boyfriend Leo. The story reads as a year-long letter to Leo as Stargirl ...more

I loved the ending of this book, but for most of it I felt like yelling, "This is not Stargirl!" The Stargirl of the original book was such a quirky, charming, but ultimately self-assured character and I just loved her. That book was written from Leo, her erstwhile boyfriend's, point of view, and this one is written from Stargirl's. The narrators seemed interchangeable, though, with Stargirl suddenly becoming uncertain, suffering from low self-esteem and being easily embarrassed, with a pretty s

Oh Stargirl, how I missed you. You can make me laugh, cry, love and think really deep thoughts like no one else. And at the end of reading this, your second story, I just wanted to reach through the pages and give you a big hug to let you know it will all be all right. But you knew that already, didn't you? :-)
Just as good as the first book, this volume finds Stargirl one year older and a lot sadder. Her happy bucket is almost empty of pebbles, and she is still pining for her lost love Leo. But ...more

About once a week, I go out to dinner by myself. I'm not a loner or anything (it's something I do before I go out to spend time with friends), but I enjoy having the time to myself. I usually bring a book with me, and it gives me an hour of (more or less) uninterrupted reading time.
Last night, the waitress who served me recognized the cover of the book I had with me. "Oh, Stargirl!" she said. "I loved that book!" I told her it was a sequel, and she asked, "Does it have Leo, too? Do you find out ...more

I don't know... it just... didn't have the magic for me that Stargirl had.
I'm reading other people's reviews, and they're so much more eloquent than I am right now (2 AM anyone?)...
J-Lynn's thoughts definitely mirror mine.
Tamara says: "Stargirl returns. The POV is now from Stargirl and not from Leo. This changes things. I feel like her voice gets lost a little in the transfer. Before you see Stargirl in this almost mythical proportion, because Leo is so enamored. When you hear things from her PO ...more

The sequel to Stargirl, and written entirely from Stargirl's point of view. Not as much rubber mallet (thwacking you on the head) action this time, but it's certainly not subtle. It is a sweet, fast read, though.

I know it's just a character in a book, but I have fallen for Stargirl, even more in this sequel.

I loved the first Stargirl book, and I loved this sequel. I especially liked having first-person insight into Stargirl's character. These books make me want to run around barefoot and meet random, interesting people...

I didn't love it until the 2nd half. It was painful the first half. But it pulls together into a lovely ending.
