This is possibly the greatest play I have ever read. I have enjoyed this (unsurprisingly) much more than the original rendition. William Butler Yeats has proved his aesthetic, and literary merit in this adaptation.
Perhaps the story of Oedipus the King is so well-known, I should not go over it. What amazes me with this edition is Yeats' mastery over the English language, his diction and his poetic touch in every well-placed word, sentence, and phrase, giving me again the pure pleasure of reading ...more

What a classical gem on fate, truth, and even literary merit and irony as an asymmetric phenomenon (as Aristotle explains it). I loved this play so much, and I loved everything about this translation from Greek. Although Greek translations tend to be goofy, they have captured the soul of Oedipus Rex.
