I think I like this one better than Pride and Prejudice! I wanted to reach into the book and slap all the men and many of the women in this story! How many ways can poor Fanny say that she doesn't want a relationship with the odious Mr. Crawford? What is it about "no" that they don't understand? I really felt for her throughout the story. It was one of those books that I didn't want to end, and I only wish that Austen has written a "Volume Four" in which she elaborated on how Edmund's feelings f

Wow -- I remember being kind of bored by this book when I first read it (perhaps at 14 or 15). What a difference this time! I'm not surprised I didn't care for it before (I hadn't cared for Persuasion either), I think Emma was a 'prime favourite' at the time. The delicate character of Fanny Price is one that today's society does not appreciate, although I do think that many readers who have qualities in common with the heroine probably appreciated her sooner than I did.

I'm not too fond of Mansfield Park. I found it rather boring, the people were not likable, not even Fanny and Edmund. But - it was ok, and now I have read it.
