I thought that this was generally a good summary of some of the issues with the modern, car-oriented, North American built environment, and perhaps a good introduction for people new to the topic, though the fact that it's a decade out of date is a bit of an issue.

(Less important, but since it was early in the book, it shook my confidence: the author apparently thinks that King Louis-Phillipe of France was decapitated.)
