This was quite an interesting history of six US suburbs (though I feel the first case was somewhat borderline) that were founded for non-capitalist reasons, varying from utopian religious settlements in the 19th Century to post-World War II attempts at racial integration and "New Towns." I mostly read it because it's the only source I know of on the history of Reston, VA, but a number of the other chapters were interesting, and I was surprised to learn of the anarchist "Stelton Colony" in early-
