Levinson and I clearly have some very different political opinions, particularly around the role of unions and the ethical value of prioritizing economic growth above other concerns, but I can't fault the research behind his meticulous history, which interweaves financial figures with social context to make a compelling argument that containerization changed our world. The history this book covered was new to me and interesting enough that I'm glad I read it. That said, the author had a disturbing libertarian / capitalist / neoliberal streak that made me really uncomfortable.
