Bleakly funny dark satire written on the eve of WWII. Man discovers a new and easily exploitable almost-human species and exploits it until it inevitably fights back. The style is clever, using newspaper clips and excerpts from other media to make it feel more real. This also makes it difficult to format the book.

Literatura nigdy nie powstaje z niczego w oderwaniu od całości. Porównawałabym ją do drzewa, z którego wyrastają coraz to większe i liczniejsze odnogi. Podobnie jest z Inwazją Jaszczurów. Czuć styl lat 20 i 30 ubiegłego wieku. Jeżeli ktoś czytał powieści z tego nurtu napisanych przez współczesnych autorowi, to od razu zauważy podobieństwa w warstwie językowej i konstrukcji powieści.

I was into the premise of this novel but just could never get excited about reading it, as the plot wandered across the world and many minor characters. By the end it paid off my relatively short time investment alright.

Cw for slurs, mentions of rape and suicide.
