Second read in 2015:
Yep, doing the FeastDance reread has improved my opinion a lot of both books. Give this a solid five star as well.
Hell, I even enjoyed Tyrion and DAENERYS' chapters! That's a huge improvement.
First read in 2011:
Not as good as the first three, although slightly better than AFFC :(
I think it's because the Dany and Tyrion POVs are boring and should be more condensed.
Here's my comments on each POV:
Varamyr Sixskins (prologue): interesting, great opening
Tyrion Lannister: the first ...more

I will start by saying that this was brutally long and some parts were downright disappointing. As with most people I'm sure, I have my favorite characters and POV chapters. I was a happy camper while reading about my favorites, but in this book in particular, I was not pleased with the length of some chapters where nothing new really happened. The same old shit...literally. I read so many descriptions of the bloody flux that I wanted to burn the book!!! I was also not pleased with the new POVs.

Too many cliffhangers ... book was over way too fast. I really want to know what's going on with Sansa, Jaime, Brienne, Jon, ... please write faster!

I was torn whether to give this book 3 stars or 4 stars, so it probably will land somewhere safely in the 3.5 star range. There are parts of this book I really loved. And parts of the book that I could have done without. It lacked the excitement and shock value of some of the other A Song of Ice and Fire books and I found myself longing for other characters that we didn't see in this novel, saw very little of, or characters that I wish he would have expanded on more. Of course I am sure that we

This book is not as long as Storm of Swords, but it just felt longer. Perhaps this is because there's just more stuff packed in.
I enjoyed Dance with Dragons more than its predecessor, Feast For Crows. The reason? The characters I like that were missing in FfC are featured in DwD.
Some big things happen in this volume, but there are a few storylines that I can't figure out. It seems like anything Bran-related plotlines are weird. The whole prologue left me confused. Otherwise, the story moves wi ...more

This book is awfully long, but pretty good for all that. I have a few problems with a certain character that is introduced and suddenly very important, and of course there are several storylines just sitting there unresolved, but I never wanted to stop reading. I did gripe about how I would get to page 300 or 400 and realize there was the equivalent to another book still waiting to be read. GRRM better get on his writing horse and get the next book out to us soon! (Sooner than the wait between t
