I read this to get another Old Kingdom story. What I got was SO much more…
While this anthology starts out with a solid addition to the Old World tales (with a rather average protagonist, on top of that!), the variety of fantasy and science-fiction tales that follows easily overshadows it. Read this once by eye years ago, and more recently on audio. These stories vary in interest level--I especially enjoyed the ones which were Nix's twist on some theme, like Robin Hood or Sherlock Holmes, some comics or aspect of history. Each story has a lot of food for thought--but always leaves me hungry for more at the end: the worst thing about them is that they are so short.
